Architectural Facade for Bidvest's World of Yamaha

Case study article

The work of a progressive architect and a specialist supplier has transformed a mundane property into a land mark building along the M1 motorway near Marlboro, Sandton.

The concept for the new home of Yamaha Distributors South Africa was developed by Empowered Space Architects partner Terence Shacklady. Existing buildings on the property were enclosed with a lightweight sculpted wall of 150 x 8 metres.

Dynamic Partners, specialised supplier and installer of wall and cladding effects were instrumental in delivering the solution:

  • Manufactured in 3 months and installed in 5 months from project start date
  • Lower cost due to having used a lightweight solution
  • Preformed polystyrene panels rendered with a 3-ply textile concrete
  • Panels weighed less than 1,000 kg, lifted onto a steel sub-frame and bolted into position
  • Seamless jointing
  • Finished in white cement paint and silicone sealant
